I wish I could assign a healing item to a button rather than having to stop combat and whip out a stack of potions and then eat one and then switch back to my weapon lol. My ONLY gripes with the game are some of the out of place mechanics and controls.
I can’t wait to see what they do with Rune Factory 5!! The blend of action and farming just works so well in 4 and it’s gonna be awesome to see it in full 3D. I know there is some RNG involved in certain events but I’m more focused on farming and dungeon crawling rather than marrying. I love that I can just do things at my own pace. The characters are adorable and the amount of stuff to do is expansive without being too overwhelming. I love the simple but deep combat (although crafting is a tad confusing) and the graphics, while dated, feel like like I’m playing a game animated by a water color painter. It started off by gradually introducing more and more mechanics and now I’m completely in the zone. Rune Factory 4 was on sale in the eShop a few weeks ago so I decided to pick it up on a whim, because I wasn’t able to get into Stardew Valley (no shade towards SV, if you enjoy it, great! But the clock stresses me out.). And I certainly never played a dating/life sim either. I’ve never really played a farming sim aside from Dragon Quest Builders 2 on Switch - and farming was not really the focus compared to building. Since this requires clearing the first dungeon and a significant investment of time in relationships with the people in town, early adventuring can be tricky. NPCs from town must have an affection level of three or higher, and monsters can't be tamed until the player builds a monster barn. They will also alert players to hidden items with treasure chest icons next to their status bar, which serves as a helpful prompt to search the surrounding area for extra loot. In addition to having back-up during battles, adventuring with NPCs and monsters increases their affection levels. The new capture system also allows players to temporarily ally with any monster that's been successfully captured for a period of 24 in-game hours. Companions can be a citizen of Rigbarth or a tamed monster. Rune Factory 5 features a party system that allows players to bring up to three companions with them.
